Metal Gear Survive includes a total of four classes that you can play as during your survival missions, either when playing in single-player or multiplayer. Though, only one is available from the beginning.
Here's the bad news: it takes a while to unlock any of the classes outside of Assault. You may be wondering what these other classes are and what they're like to play as, particularly since the game makes no mention of them early on. If so, then you've come to the right place.

The requirement to unlock the three other classes is to not only finish the single-player campaign, but to then successfully complete the milestone mission that is unlocked afterward. Only then are you given access to the other options, along with their skill trees.
The four classes are as follows:
Assault
Assault is a well-rounded fighter that is durable and has access to powerful weapons. Its main function is to fight enemies up close and personal with close-ranged firearms and melee weapons. Think of it as the tank of the game, although its damage potential is much higher than your traditional RPG tank.
Jaeger
Jaeger is a master of the bow and other silent but deadly weapons. They are great at defending your base from a high position where they can rain projectiles on foes from afar. Out of the four classes, they are the most niche, and in the current meta aren't particularly favorable.
Medic
Medic is a support class that is great for keeping your team alive and well. They are the backbone of every group that is serious about surviving thanks to their ability to heal others and deliver backup damage.
Scout
Lastly, Scout specializes in camouflage and mobility. It is able to support your frontline with huge critical hits and can take out stragglers on its own thanks to its high burst damage.
